We stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect place for us. Plenty of opportunities to socialize with the other guests if you're into that sort of thing (like in a typical b & b situation), but enough privacy so that you don't have to (i.e. 2 person dining tables at breakfast, private entrances off of most rooms.) This was great for us because we work quite a bit with people in each of our businesses, so we were looking to just have time for the two of us minus a lot of small talk. The room was beautiful, comfortable, quiet. The staff was great and the food was delicious. Not a bad thing to report- we will definitely be back!

Great spot; beautiful place, with careful attention to detail; in summary, they get it right. Comfortable rooms, friendly hosts, great happy hour, and very knowledgeable about the area. We will definitely return (for a longer stay next time).

Surpassed all expectations of a short week night stay. Extremely friendly and helpful hosts willing to make considerations for out of town travelers. Our room in the new addition building featured a comfortable bed with luxurious bedding as well as a spacious walk in shower and loads of easy-to-forget amenities (e.g. Makeup towelettes, shampoo, body wash, hair dryer). Location is perfect for the downtown adventurer. Whatever you do, DONT MISS BREAKFAST! Truly snooze you lose, it's delicious. Sizeable military discount made this reservation the clear choice for our "vacation".

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Just got back from a weekend getaway with my husband and found the Addison to be absolutely perfect. Our room was sophisticated and romantic. Staying in room 1 in the main house I was a little worried about being so close to the living room and dining room, but we never found it to be a problem. The linens were delightfully soft, the towels cozy, and all of the amenities top notch. I have food allergies/ dietary restrictions and Bob and Shannon went above and beyond to make me special breakfasts and even a gluten free snack for happy hour. My husband loved all of the normal breakfast goodies as well. We left relaxed and refreshed-- only wish we could have stayed longer! I can't wait to come back. Thanks, Bob and Shannon!

First and foremost, please ignore the 1 star review from the man back in 2007. This B&B is now run by a lovely couple, Bob & Shannon who took over ownership after that nasty review. There is NO WAY anyone would leave a 1-star review for this place. I had never stayed at a B&B and was always a little leery. But in a long 3 week road trip, one of my destinations was Fernandina Island. In exploring my options, I found The Addison on Amelia and immediately fell in love. I chose Room #8 and it was lovely. I was there during a slow week so it was just me, Bob & Shannon and I could not have dreamt of more excellent service! The room was clean and lovely and had a great balcony that looked over the street and some great old homes. Everything I could possibly need was in the room. Internet service, lovely bathroom items (including great bath salts), I don't know what kind of sheets they use or what they wash them in but they were the SOFTEST I have ever slept on in a hotel/B&B. The location of the Inn was also perfect. I walked to dinner both nights and did some shopping as well. The main street with all the stores is just a couple of blocks. I am a late riser so it was nice to find that breakfast was served till 10a each day. And I got there about 9:30! Bob is the BEST host. He kept me entertained and was right there with each part of my meal. And wow, such great food! One morning, I had fresh mini-donuts, then a smoothie and then an egg cassolet. Fresh squeezed OJ and great coffee to boot. Plus, at any time of the day or night, you can can go into the big house and get snacks or something to drink. I dearly want to return for the classic car show in March but as hard as Bob tried, they were already booked (no surprise) but I'm on a waitlist with fingers crossed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE ADDISON ON AMELIA FOR EVERYONE!

Our stay in room 10 was relaxing, romantic and felt like such a personalized retreat. Bob and Shannon are such welcoming inn keepers and have created an environment that is completely relaxing. The room was clean, cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was very quiet and easy to sleep! The bathroom was amazing- the tub with jets was the perfect end to the day. Bob hosted happy hour for guests and was so hospitable. He provided recommendations for area activities and offered bikes he had on hand for guests to use. The morning brought breakfast that was beautifully presented and delicious. The yogurt parfait featured a creamy and refreshing yogurt that was bright and delicious. The quiche was on a perfect crust and well balanced with gruyere, spinach and prosciutto. I would highly recommend this Inn and stay again.

Its costly but pretty nice. The rooms get warm in the afternoon and the TV in our room was almost impossible to see from any angle. I know we aren't there to watch TV and the house was made before TV but its just an idea. We loved the walk in shower and bathroom, which were very nice.

Our stay at the Addison on Amelia was phenomenal! We stayed in Room 8, mainly for the private balcony and jetted tub! It was worth it. The room was very comfortable. The bed was great, with great linens and pillows. The towels were plush also--the attention to detail was fantastic. The outdoor space (our private balcony and the common areas) were fantastic--lush and relaxing. Their front room was comfortable and offered a myriad of games, menu information, books and more. In fact, we enjoyed a game of Scrabble while sitting out on our balcony. It was really relaxing and perfect. The food is terrific! The breakfasts were hearty, creative and tasty! Our first breakfast included a muffin that tasted like a donut (seriously), Grapes in a Citrus marinade with lime cream, and Croissant french toast with sausage. Our second breakfast was toasted pound cake with delicious fresh berries and lemon cream and a spinach/ prosciutto quiche with pan fried potatoes. The coffee was fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed the nightly happy hours. It was a great opportunity to relax before dinner with complimentary wine, beer and appetizers (tomato/balsamic/goat cheese on toast on the first night; cheese assortment on the second). You could mingle with the other guests if you wanted, but you don't need too. Personally I find it part of the experience! The location is great! We were within a 5 minute walk of numerous locally owned restaurants. From upscale French to relaxed Southern dining, you could find it within a stone's throw from the Addison. The innkeepers are great! Bob is quite the character, very entertaining and knowledgeable about the local area. They made our stay very special. Plus, their dog Maggie is a sweetheart!! I recommend The Addison on Amelia for a great weekend getaway--the rooms are lovely and updated; the food was top notch; and the innkeepers will make sure your every need is attended to. We look forward to returning.

Correction: There is no bridal suite [as I have been informed], but I was referring to the nice room my sister had selected to stay in the night before her wedding. And I am certain that this is the place we stayed before her wedding. [Don't exactly appreciate the owner claiming I am mistaken simply for the fact that what I said may have not been flattering.] Still a great place!

This Inn is beautiful and has been under new ownership for the last 3 years, so ignore those old reviews! We have stayed in many places all over the world, and this is truly a standout! The Inn is in top condition with many amenities...great bikes and beach chairs, delicious and creative breakfasts, happy hour with hot snacks and free wine/beer/sodas. We stayed in room 1 for 3 nights and enjoyed the little town with its many restaurants and cute shopping district....all of which is just blocks from the Inn. Our room had a private porch with quality chairs. The bed was king size and comfortable. We had free wi-fi and a flat screen TV...just because its a B&B, doesn't mean you won't enjoy all the modern conveniences. I totally recommend this Inn if you appreciate the best quality for a carefree weekend stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Addison on Amelia. The Inn has new owners and just reopened about a year ago, so the only reviews here that are relevant at this point are from about March 2010 and later. The room we had was large and comfortable. There is a shampoo/conditioner/bath gel dispenser on the wall, so you don't need to bring any of these things with you. There are chocolates in the room and cookies/tea/coffee always available in the main building (try the Lemongrass-Ginger tea - it's fantastic!). The breakfast is always delicious and very filling. There is also a nice wine reception every evening. The owners will let you use their bicycles, beach chairs, beach towels and beach umbrellas. They'll also bring you an iron and ironing board upon request. We had a room that overlooked the courtyard and the sound of the fountain was wonderful - I just wish they had left it on all night so we could hear the sound of the water as we fell asleep. The inn is very "green" and there is a recycling bin available in each room should you choose to use it. Finally, the owners are happy to coordinate your dinner reservations and other activities (like a horse-drawn carriage ride) in advance so that you won't have to worry about anything when you get there. Housekeeping personnel are fastidious and even organize your toiletries and put away any clothes you may have left out. The inn is close to all of the restaurants in town, so you can have that extra glass or two of wine at dinner and not have to worry about getting to your room safely - you can just walk back. Overall, we recommend this inn.

Excellent place to stay on Amelia Island. I had a fantastic night's sleep (bed was excellent), the staff is very friendly and nice and the rooms are immaculate. I do wish the TV in the room was a bit bigger, but other than that, I have only good things to say.

Yes, that is not a mistake - this hotel earned a 1 star rating from me and I never even set foot inside. If Yelp would let me, it would have received a 0. Do not be fooled as my girlfriend and I were by the facade of this B&B's website, in fact, run - faster. Despite the poor reviews the B&B received on other sites my girlfriend and I were excited to be spending our anniversary at this establishment. We made our reservation a month and half in advance and were backing the night before our arrival when we received an email, informing us that our reservation had been canceled due to renovations. When we tried to contact the B&B but, as had been our experience trying to contact them before, no one answered the phone. In desperation we contacted the Hoyt House and they salvaged our weekend with their amazing customer service. If you plan to stay in Amelia Island I would urge you to stay at the Hoyt House, and if your experience is anything like mine was I assure you that you will not be disappointed. With that in mind, we decided to swing by the Addison while we were in town only to find that it was not in fact under renovation but that, upon speaking with the innkeeper, the owner Karol, whom we had all of our correspondence though, said the owner had canceled all reservations so that she could fly back to England. Still, even after, we have arrived home, our deposit, $175, has still not been refunded. All in all, this is probably the worst establishment, when it comes to customer service. :( If you are a stickler for customer service, or even a person who enjoys having proper respect shown to them, stay away from the Addison House.

A little underwhelmed by this place when we stayed for the weekend. First off, it's pretty expensive: +$200/night which I guess is par in Amelia Island so I can't complain about that. The good part about the Addison House is the exterior of the place is beautiful and the main house is everything you would hope for. The living room is well appointed, the eating area is pleasant and there is a fantastic courtyard that is very romantic to sit on the balcony of your room and enjoy. The problem with this place was the rooms. Ours (#6) was fairly sizable with a gargantuan tub to soak/shower/romp in. But there were little things that you noticed that were mildly annoying: the rotted caulk along the tub, the lack of any sundries besides "conditioning shampoo" and one bar of soap, the cable TV not working, the cheap armoire whose door was so sticky that opening it almost made the thing topple on your head. I don't know about the other rooms here but with a little TLC this place could be top notch. The "infrastructure" is certainly there but the final touches are just starting to go south. The owner was not there but the two women keeping the place were very nice and breakfast was tasty. One minor complaint: one of the innkeepers was smoking marlboro red cancer sticks in the courtyard both mornings we were there and sitting out on that beautiful porch reading in the morning was kind of ruined because of that. I think if I were to go back to Amelia Island I would probably pass on staying at the Addison; if other things are full and you end up here, it's not a bad thing but you may seek out other places before you land here.
